What if the biggest transformation in your life seems to be the number on the scale? For years, Cindy believed her problem was her weight. She knew her hormones were off. She was carrying more weight than her body needed, and she had tried diet after diet to fix it. But underneath all of that was something she couldn't see yet: a deeply ingrained belief that she wasn't enough.

When Cindy took a self-love assessment, she scored negative 54, and that number became a wake-up call.

In this episode, Cindy and I talk about what happened when she stopped treating weight loss as the goal and started treating health, self-trust, and self-love as the foundation. We talk about the diet mindset she inherited growing up, the pressure of what women are “supposed” to look like, and how those beliefs can become so deeply embedded that we don't realize they're shaping the way we live.

Today, Cindy can look in the mirror and say, “I love myself,” and actually believe it. The woman who originally came to us to lose weight is now a certified nutrition and lifestyle coach, helping other women discover their worth and write their stories of freedom.

Conclusion:

Your goal should be to become more fully yourself, not to become someone else. Health isn't about earning your worth. Weight isn't a measure of your value, and taking care of yourself isn't selfish. Sometimes straightening your crown means keeping your word to yourself, asking for what you need, setting a boundary, or simply remembering that you matter, too.

[00:00:00] Cindy Weathers: I was in a very toxic marriage for 24 years, where I was verbally abused and made to

[00:00:06] Carrie Lupoli: feel like I wasn't worth it. Anything I said really didn't matter.

[00:00:10] Cindy Weathers: So it just, I just kept feeling more and more beaten down, and there was a constant stress. It became very physical at one point with my body, not a physical abuse, but that my body was very physically sick from the stress.

[00:00:22] Cindy Weathers: And I knew at that point I had reached the time I had to leave, that I had to get out of that marriage, or it was going to kill me.

[00:00:29] Carrie Lupoli: 24 years in a marriage where nothing she said seemed to matter. A negative self-talk loop that was literally running in her head 24/7, and she didn't know it was even there.

[00:00:40] Carrie Lupoli: She just thought that the way she felt about herself, the beliefs that she had around how a woman should look and act were just normal. And then she finally took a self-love assessment, and she actually scored a -54. That's when it hit her. Two years ago, she came to [00:01:00] me. We talked, and we gave her an opportunity to work with us, but in a very different way.

[00:01:06] Carrie Lupoli: Today, almost two years later, she's down 55 pounds, but 48 of it is fat, not muscle, because she refused to trade one broken relationship with her body for another. But it's the real transformation that had nothing to do with her blood work or her weight. It was all around what she stopped believing and what she started knowing.

[00:01:30] Carrie Lupoli: Hey there, Crown Straighteners. Whatever's tightening your corset today, welcome. You're in the right place, and I am so excited to introduce you to Cindy.

[00:01:45] Carrie Lupoli: Well, I am so excited about today's episode because it's been a while since I've had somebody's transformational story on, and I feel like it's about time. And this is a woman you want to hear from. Cindy [00:02:00] has been on a journey of self-discovery and of health for a long, long time, and is going to share today so much of herself, so much of her journey, how she is truly becoming the healthiest version of herself.

[00:02:14] Carrie Lupoli: And what's so amazing is that what she needed wasn't at all what she thought she needed. And when she found me, almost two years ago now if you really, if, gosh, if you look at the calendar, she, uh, was not, not in the place where she wanted to be, and where she is now is not in the place where she expected to be.

[00:02:35] Carrie Lupoli: So Cindy, welcome to From Corset to Crown. I'm so happy to have you here.

[00:02:40] Cindy Weathers: Thank you, Carrie. I'm really excited to be here, to get to share.

[00:02:43] Carrie Lupoli: This is gonna be such an inspirational conversation for so many women because when people hear about where you were when we first met you, I think they're gonna see themselves in that.

[00:02:55] Carrie Lupoli: And that's one of the reasons why I love to talk about stories of freedom. Because to me, [00:03:00] this isn't even about you, Cindy, this is about the person watching or listening on the other side that says, "Oh my gosh, this could be me." So many times we hear stories of people and we think, "Well, I can't do that. I can't do that."

[00:03:12] Carrie Lupoli: And I think what people are gonna see today with you is that you are going to share a story that is going to be like so many other women. So let's get into a little bit about you. When you first came to us, nearly two years ago now, we're going on that, tell us about where you were, what was going on.

[00:03:33] Carrie Lupoli: Tell us about your life.

[00:03:34] Cindy Weathers: I was very, very unhealthy physically. I was carrying a lot more weight than what my body needed to carry. I knew from just reading things that my hormones were off, but I had no clue how to fix them. And I'll tell people I had enough rackets that I could share with everyone at Wimbledon, and have some over.

[00:03:53] Cindy Weathers: We'll have to

[00:03:54] Carrie Lupoli: talk about what rackets are for people that don't know, but that will be an interesting conversation we'll dig into. Yeah. Keep [00:04:00] going.

[00:04:00] Cindy Weathers: Yeah, so kind of lots of excuses, and I did not really love myself. I didn't realize how little I loved myself. I had a continuous loop of negative self-talk that played.

[00:04:12] Cindy Weathers: It was 24/7, and the v- the severity of it would vary just depending on the day.

[00:04:18] Carrie Lupoli: Did you realize that? Uh, you s- look back now, like hindsight is 20/20 real- right? Mm. When you were there, did you realize part of a major issue for you was the amount of negative self-talk, or was it just normal?

[00:04:30] Cindy Weathers: It was just my normal.

[00:04:32] Cindy Weathers: I didn't know. I was like, "Why do I talk to myself so negatively?" And I'd look at other people, and they see the good in themselves. I can't find the good in me.

[00:04:40] Carrie Lupoli: So you knew that you couldn't

[00:04:41] Cindy Weathers: I realized that there was something, but I didn't realize how impactful it was for me. I didn't know how to change it.

[00:04:48] Cindy Weathers: I had listened to it so long.

[00:04:51] Carrie Lupoli: Right, and that's what I talk about with the corset, right? This, this invisible pressure and this belief system that's been stitched onto us since we were young, and [00:05:00] it feels just so normal that we don't even realize that that's not the way it's supposed to be. I wanna keep con- continuing on about your story, but first actually, w- do you remember, like I remember I say that the corset was first put on me when my mom would brush my hair and tell me that beauty hurts when I complained that it was painful.

[00:05:18] Carrie Lupoli: When was the corset first put on you that you can remember?

[00:05:22] Cindy Weathers: I have, have tried to remember exactly when. And I was a very active child, and I had a naturally slimmer build, so it wasn't a weight thing. But I think there with growing up, my mom did have very much a diet mindset. It's the time. She did what she knew to do.

[00:05:38] Cindy Weathers: She was doing it from love. Yeah.

[00:05:40] Carrie Lupoli: Yeah

[00:05:40] Cindy Weathers: And so I think it just goes back to I can't even remember when it was put on. It was just always, "You have to eat to make sure that you stay thin and that you look nice," and those sort of things, so...

[00:05:51] Carrie Lupoli: Yeah. It was just- So that is a, just a belief system that became who you were.

[00:05:56] Carrie Lupoli: Then when you came to us and you were not [00:06:00] matching the beliefs that you were given around what a woman should look like, that was a, a piece of you feeling very broken.

[00:06:09] Cindy Weathers: Yes

[00:06:10] Carrie Lupoli: Yeah, yeah. Okay, so you, uh, lots of negative sel- self-talk. You were very unhealthy in terms of your own body. What kind of... What was a day in the life of Cindy like?

[00:06:21] Carrie Lupoli: Like, how did we get to that place of you being in a status of just true metabolic dysfunction?

[00:06:29] Cindy Weathers: I was in a very toxic marriage for 24 years, where I was verbally abused and made to feel like I wasn't worth it. Anything I said really didn't matter, so it just, I just kept feeling more and more beaten down.

[00:06:42] Cindy Weathers: Yes And there was a constant stress. It became very physical at one point with my body, not a physical abuse, but that my body was very physically sick from the stress. And I knew at that point I had reached the time I had to leave, that I had to get out of that marriage, or it was going to kill me.

[00:06:59] Carrie Lupoli: Um- Oh, gosh.[00:07:00]

[00:07:00] Carrie Lupoli: And what was your relationship like with food? Was food the thing that was the support mechanism for you in a lot of ways?

[00:07:09] Cindy Weathers: It was, and I was, had a very restrictive mindset, so I had very much a diet mindset of, oh, I can't eat that, foods are good or bad. And I had to earn food and earn to get to eat fun things, you know, that I quoted as fun or good things.

[00:07:25] Cindy Weathers: And the flip side was that I had two daughters, and I was trying very hard not to impart that mindset that I had. I knew that I had an unhealthy mindset. You did. I didn't know how to change mine. Mm-hmm. But I was trying really hard to not give it to my daughters at the same time.

[00:07:41] Carrie Lupoli: And that, and that's one of the things that's so complicated, right?

[00:07:44] Carrie Lupoli: Because we can say one thing to our girls or our children in general, but how we live and our own belief systems will always override what we're teaching. Did you f- do you find that to be [00:08:00] true for you?

[00:08:01] Cindy Weathers: Yes. It was very hard because I could see them, like, you know, they would sort of do what I said because they were-- they followed what their, their mom asked them to do, but I could also see that they were following what I was doing.

[00:08:13] Cindy Weathers: Mm. And that they were developing those beliefs, and I didn't like that. Yeah.

[00:08:17] Carrie Lupoli: That was like me too, right? When my kids started talking about calories at five and six years old, it was like I knew that I was putting on them a belief system that I inherited, but I didn't know how to take that off or how to change that.

[00:08:31] Carrie Lupoli: But luckily, you stumbled upon me, my philosophy, my approach. How did you find me anyway?

[00:08:37] Cindy Weathers: I've told so many people you're an answered prayer. In December of '24, I was praying for a doctor who would listen. I was praying for someone that could help me really find what would help me be healthy and a healthy way to lose the weight, because I knew I had, my body had to get rid of weight.

[00:08:56] Cindy Weathers: At that point, my focus was lose the weight. And [00:09:00] didn't know everything else that I needed to do with that. But that's another part of the... But I was on Facebook and I saw a video of you, and I listened to it, and it was apply for the scholarship, and you... I was like, "Does this make sense?" I didn't know all the details at that point, but I was like, "Okay, this makes sense.

[00:09:20] Cindy Weathers: It's balancing your hormones. It's eating healthy for your body. It's not restrictive. It's including all the food groups.

[00:09:27] Carrie Lupoli: Huh,

[00:09:27] Cindy Weathers: I'm gonna fill out the scholarship." And I did. And I was

[00:09:31] Carrie Lupoli: awarded it. Yeah, so a few times a year we do offer a scholarship to women for our approach, and you applied for that. And that's-- I, I love that you put yourself out there like that and almost ha- advocated for yourself in that way.

[00:09:45] Carrie Lupoli: Was that hard to do?

[00:09:46] Cindy Weathers: Yes. That was a huge, huge step for me because I did not self-advocate very often at all. It was much more rare that I would self-advocate.

[00:09:55] Carrie Lupoli: What made you know that this approach of... I [00:10:00] mean, really, truly, it was around the BS that matters, right? The BS that we need versus the BS of the diet industry that we have been taught is just natural and normal.

[00:10:09] Carrie Lupoli: I'm so unapologetic about disrupting everything we've been told about weight loss, confidence, and self-worth. But the, the BS that really matters, we know belief system, behavioral science, and blood sugar. But what was it that made you feel like, "Yeah, this is actually gonna be different compared to everything else I've ever done"?

[00:10:27] Cindy Weathers: It was the blood sugar. I knew enough about balancing blood sugar that you, you had to have it balanced to be healthy. Because when I was in high school and I played on the tennis team, I had to eat every three hours so that my blood sugar would be stable. Because the doctor had me eat every three hours so that I never got too hungry, never got dehydrated, and that my blood sugars would stay stable because they would have a tendency to go low.

[00:10:53] Cindy Weathers: And so I knew I felt better then. So I had that old thing in the back of my mind that I could carry and [00:11:00] bring forward that-

[00:11:00] Carrie Lupoli: That's so interesting because when people are like, "I've never heard of the way that you teach this before," I'm like, th- this is the crazy thing. We have been so buried in all of this noise that we don't ever-- We can't even just find our way to the basic information that h- has been tested over time forever.

[00:11:20] Carrie Lupoli: I haven't told this story very often, but I actually had a trainer once years ago, and he was doing nutrition in his gym. And I had just started off figuring all of this out and, and, and digging into this research and science. And he said to me, "Research has shown..." And whenever anybody say, "Research has shown," or, "Studies have shown," especially when you're new, you just are like, "Oh, well then they must be right."

[00:11:42] Carrie Lupoli: And I've learned. I'm like, "Which studies? Tell me." Like, I've learned to- Critical eyes ... to push, right? Studies have shown that whether you eat two big meals a day or one big meal a day or small meals all day, it doesn't make a difference. And I didn't know how to answer that. And now I look back at it and I'm like [00:12:00] It depends what your definition of working means.

[00:12:02] Carrie Lupoli: Like- Yes ... if you e- if you're just talking about calories in versus calories out, and going with a deficit mindset, and going after losing weight by any means possible, then I guess maybe you can make that argument. However, we know if you have one big meal or two big meals, you're gonna spike your blood sugar.

[00:12:20] Carrie Lupoli: Mm-hmm. And then you're gonna be super low all day. But you said something so important. It was like you knew you felt better. And we, we have this tendency to go to weight loss, weight loss, weight loss, weight loss, and we do very unhealthy things that actually make us feel worse. But the, you know, like, this is what- We

[00:12:38] Cindy Weathers: look

[00:12:39] Carrie Lupoli: better

[00:12:39] Carrie Lupoli: the means people say. Maybe we look better. But you, in starting to eat and not count calories and not track, saw unbelievable success physically and mentally. And it's so interesting, 'cause when I said to you what draw- drew you to this, you said blood sugar, which is amazing. But at the end of [00:13:00] the day, what you got out of it was so much more.

[00:13:02] Carrie Lupoli: But let's talk about eating every three hours, a balanced protein, fat, and carb. We call it PFC3. Tell us about when you started doing that, some women feel like, "Oh, this is amazing. I can eat again. I don't have to track anymore." Mm-hmm. Or some women get really afraid of eating. What was it for you?

[00:13:22] Cindy Weathers: I could eat, and I didn't have to track.

[00:13:24] Cindy Weathers: Tracking was so stressful for me, because one of the many diets was macros, and you had to have them perfectly. You know, I had someone I worked with who said, "You have to track every bite, lick, and sip you have in your mouth." Yep. Yep. And I have no idea how many calories I eat a day.

[00:13:39] Carrie Lupoli: Same. I don't have any need to

[00:13:41] Cindy Weathers: know.

[00:13:42] Cindy Weathers: Nope. And so it was refreshing and freeing, really, to get to eat like this, because I could have fruit again. I love fruit, and I'd been on diets where they said no fruit. And then I could enjoy, you know, the vegetables. I do love vegetables, and then just different proteins. [00:14:00] And I could just feel so much better.

[00:14:02] Cindy Weathers: My energy, I didn't have that afternoon crash. I didn't feel like a zombie. I felt like me, the me that I hadn't known in a really, really long time. But I felt so much better.

[00:14:14] Carrie Lupoli: Well, howdy. Let's go on a trip together, shall we? How about Nashville, Tennessee? October 2nd through the 4th, I am bringing my concept, my approach, and my heart to you in Nashville with my live event From Corset to Crown.

[00:14:27] Carrie Lupoli: It's gonna be three days of being in person with all sorts of amazing speakers, but here's what's really gonna happen. Friday, you're gonna show up wearing a corset. We all will, and that's right where you're supposed to be because we're gonna start to recognize all the things that are just keeping us stuck.

[00:14:43] Carrie Lupoli: We're gonna name them. We're gonna sign a peace treaty with ourselves, and then on Saturday, I am going to disrupt everything you've been told about weight loss, confidence, and self-worth in a room full of women doing the same hard, honest, amazing work. I'm gonna teach you the last nutritional advice you will ever need.

[00:14:57] Carrie Lupoli: I'm going to teach you the tools I use with my [00:15:00] clients and the things that have worked with tens of thousands of women. And then on Sunday, we're gonna get real and dig in and bring it all together with true centeredness, self-love, empowerment. I cannot wait for you not just to be inspired, but to learn so much information and leave with a complete and total transformation.

[00:15:18] Carrie Lupoli: So for a limited time, I am offering our general admission tickets for $50 off. We've already sold out of platinum and VIP, but every single person in that room, I'm going to hug, I'm going to greet. It's gonna be incredible. So go get your ticket now. I can't wait to see you in Nashville.

[00:15:38] Carrie Lupoli: Yeah. I love that. I love that. Yeah, because I see it both ways. So let's talk about some of the physical changes that have happened in your body. What's so funny to me is like the first thing, like when you first got on a call with us and started talking to us about it, it was really all the physical stuff.

[00:15:54] Carrie Lupoli: Yes. Like the weight gain and the hormonal balance and, and- Mm-hmm ... your health, which you had a very big why. [00:16:00] But then we're gonna really talk about the what really truly changed that you weren't expecting. But let's talk about the physical changes and the successes that you've seen, because they're really quite extraordinary, and you need to be so proud of you because you have shown up for yourself.

[00:16:20] Carrie Lupoli: Now, I think a big difference though is showing up for yourself from the corset versus showing up for yourself from the crown. Yes. Showing up for yourself based on a diet mentality and deprivation and being so frustrated with your body versus showing up for yourself in a way that's simple, sustainable, satisfying, and out of true love for your body.

[00:16:39] Carrie Lupoli: I know that you started to adopt that almost right away. Yes. So let's talk about what, how you entered into it and the changes that you've seen.

[00:16:47] Cindy Weathers: I, when I entered into it, it was, "Okay, I'm gonna eat this way and I'm gonna follow the lessons each day." I didn't know what all they were going to entail, but I absolutely loved every lesson and learned so [00:17:00] much, and embraced all of that.

[00:17:02] Cindy Weathers: But the reason I know the difference in my weight is that my doctor uses a composite scale, so I don't have my scale at home. So um, I lost 55 pounds, and of that 55 pounds, 48 of it's been fat mass.

[00:17:15] Carrie Lupoli: Okay. Which is- Wait, w- that is amazing. That is so important. Like, go into that a little bit more ...

[00:17:21] Cindy Weathers: because a lot of times, the way that it's been explained to me, the way that I've learned to understand it, is that when you have that much of a weight loss, you typically lose a lot of muscle.

[00:17:32] Cindy Weathers: I was determined I was not going to lose the muscle. I made sure I ate all of my protein and I implemented heavy lifting consistently into my days and my weeks, and as a result, I only lost seven pounds of muscle mass. And my doctor had explained to me that it would be normal to lose some muscle mass, because when I was 55 pounds heavier, my body was having to work so much harder just to carry me through the days and to make it, so they would [00:18:00] expect some.

[00:18:01] Cindy Weathers: And I am almost back to, um, where I was muscle mass and healthy muscle mass and lean muscle mass that I've built, so... I've lost 14 inches in my waist, which the visceral fat and the waist circumference was a really big concern for me. My visceral fat was dangerously high, and it's normal now,

[00:18:19] Carrie Lupoli: so... This is, this is why it's so important me, for me to reiterate the idea that weight gain, the opposite of it is not weight loss.

[00:18:28] Carrie Lupoli: Mm-hmm. Because we do very unhealthy things to lose weight, and that is the, the, the train people have been on forever and ever and ever, and we're getting sicker and sicker and sicker. You have, you have done that over and over again and got to where you were. And the opposite of weight gain is actually health, and we have to recognize that weight gain is a symptom, and the symptoms that you had were just literally putting you on top of what I call that metabolic disease pyramid.

[00:18:56] Carrie Lupoli: And when we lose weight through deprivation, through diet, through [00:19:00] weight loss shots, all of those things, without medication, truly you have reversed everything in your blood work and preserved that gold of muscle. And that's the thing that we don't understand. So many people say, "I lost the same 50 pounds or 100 pounds over and over again."

[00:19:16] Carrie Lupoli: No, you've been losing muscle and gaining back fat, and that is like losing gold and gaining back dirt. And so I'm so, just so excited to show an example of how when I say preserving muscle and losing fat is possible- Mm-hmm ... it is. And it, and it happened for you relatively... I don't wanna say quickly, like there's a timeframe, but when you show up consistently, not like where you have to go all in all the time where it's hard, it just becomes a part of who you are.

[00:19:48] Carrie Lupoli: These, these are the results.

[00:19:50] Cindy Weathers: It wasn't an overnight change that I changed everything. I slowly increased and learned how to build habits of, like, working out to s- help my body to get [00:20:00] stronger. The PFC eating was an easy transformation for me because it just was logical. It just made sense. I felt so much better so quickly, didn't wanna change that.

[00:20:10] Cindy Weathers: Cravings were gone, which was a huge thing, too. But then just adding to it, like you said, the 1%, and just being consistent to show up for me every day, and keeping my word to myself so I could learn to trust myself and to trust my body.

[00:20:25] Carrie Lupoli: Okay. Let's talk about that now. Trusting yourself, self-trust, self-leadership, self-worth, and self-love.

[00:20:34] Carrie Lupoli: These are all things that you did not realize were so foundational and were impacting you so negatively. I always say, "I'm not here to fix women. I'm here to free them." You were trapped. Mm-hmm. Tell us more about that, and how did you get to this place now of actually loving yourself?

[00:20:52] Cindy Weathers: One example that I give is that when I started was very close to the time when you were doing a challenge while I was in a [00:21:00] program, and I did a self-love assessment.

[00:21:02] Cindy Weathers: And it was the perfect 1% to me because my score when I started was a negative 54, and that includes how much negative self-talk I had, how I didn't love myself. I didn't see that I was important. And then within 54 days, I was at a zero. And most of the time, the perfectionist Cindy would be like, "Zero?" But this one I was like, "I'm not negative anymore.

[00:21:25] Cindy Weathers: I'm seeing an improvement." And-

[00:21:26] Carrie Lupoli: So much growth ...

[00:21:28] Cindy Weathers: being able to trust the coaches that I worked with to be comfortable, to be vulnerable, and to really be me helped me to build self-trust because then they helped me to look deep into me and to face those things and change those behaviors and the beliefs and the thoughts, and to really see who I am.

[00:21:48] Cindy Weathers: I say thank you for giving me, me.

[00:21:50] Carrie Lupoli: Oh.

[00:21:50] Cindy Weathers: And helping me find me too, y'all, because this has just been, it's transformational. It really is.

[00:21:57] Carrie Lupoli: We're all about 1%, and that's where when [00:22:00] people see transformation stories, stories of freedom, it's almost like we feel like we, we, we can't really reconcile just the path that somebody was w- was on, and how everything happened, little bits and pieces over time, and it was consistency over time that really paid off.

[00:22:17] Carrie Lupoli: How do you see the 1% concept allowing you the opportunity to build trust within yourself?

[00:22:25] Cindy Weathers: Allowing it to be 1% a day shows me that if I'm consistent and I keep my word to myself daily, then I can, I'm gonna see growth. And that 1%, it doesn't look big, like, within a week, but even when I look back on the months, I can see.

[00:22:42] Cindy Weathers: And then when I look back over nearly two years, I can barely find that little spot in my vision of where I started because the trajectory has become so huge of, with the progress and the growth. And I mean, one of my favorite quotes is I'm both, you can be both a masterpiece and a work in progress at the same [00:23:00] time.

[00:23:00] Carrie Lupoli: Yes. It

[00:23:01] Cindy Weathers: is from Sophia Bush. I'll give her credit in this. And but that's something I remind myself of daily, because the consistency is so much bigger than the perfectionism. And I'm really thankful now, I wouldn't have said this nearly two years ago, I'm really thankful now that I'm not perfect, because if I were, then how am I ever gonna grow?

[00:23:23] Cindy Weathers: How am I gonna continue to be-

[00:23:25] Carrie Lupoli: Yes ... the

[00:23:25] Cindy Weathers: person, if I wanna be the person I wanna be?

[00:23:27] Carrie Lupoli: Yeah. I love it so much. You, you couldn't have said it any better. So let's dig into the way that you speak to yourself now versus the way that you spoke to yourself before. You said you had so many rackets you could have, like- played at Wimbledon.

[00:23:41] Carrie Lupoli: A racket, for those of you who don't know, we, we talk about this a lot in our coaching programs, are, are these belief systems that we have. It, it's like a scheme, like a money-making scheme. And, uh, we all have them, and a racket always has a long-term consequence, where if you have this excuse, [00:24:00] like a racket, "I just don't have time to work out," right?

[00:24:02] Carrie Lupoli: Well, the long-term consequence of that is you're never going to work out, and we know what will happen if we don't show up for ourselves in that way over time. But there's a short-term payoff. And so every racket, every money-making scheme has some sort of short-term payoff. And while it's not money for you and for all of us, it's justification.

[00:24:22] Carrie Lupoli: The racket can help us justify why we're not going to show up for ourselves, and that justification allows us to sleep at night. "Well, I just don't have time to work out, so there's nothing I can do about it." So when you think about your rackets and the negative self-talk, give us an example of how that has improved over the last almost two years.

[00:24:44] Cindy Weathers: Some of my rackets were, "I just don't have time to exercise." I changed that one because I'm like, "I'm making time for that." "I'm too busy to sit down and relax. I'm too... It's too stressful." Those are mindsets, and it's a matter of how I arrange [00:25:00] my time and use my time and learn to set boundaries to say no when it doesn't serve me, and to say yes when I want to.

[00:25:06] Cindy Weathers: And sometimes that no is yes to me, to give me the time I need, and I'm getting much better with that now than I used to be, because I do like to help people. I like to give and things, and sometimes I will just forget and just start doing things and get too busy. So I have to remind- Yep ... myself, so.

[00:25:24] Carrie Lupoli: Yep.

[00:25:24] Carrie Lupoli: Yep. Yeah, and it's like an, it's a daily act. It's a daily act of showing up for yourself. You, you show up for my morning time every day. You're on our coaching calls and, and you have carved out morning time for yourself every day. One of the things that I always say is that in order to really find true success, you have to determine what- Does success actually look like for you?

[00:25:46] Carrie Lupoli: Where do you wanna be in a year in terms of all of the pieces of your life? But you have to be ready to learn, unlearn, and be coachable. And I think those were some of your undeniable qualities that never wavered. You [00:26:00] continuously are learning, you're continuously dedicated to unlearning and checking yourself, being coachable and, and believing what that, I joke, that the devil's advocate would say.

[00:26:11] Carrie Lupoli: And now you're coaching yourself. And the, the big thing I think that everybody needs to know is that you then went on to become a certified nutrition and lifestyle coach trained in this approach, and you are now coaching others to be able to develop and write their own story of freedom. Ivy, speak to that as a piece of progress that I'm guessing you weren't even looking for when you first started.

[00:26:44] Cindy Weathers: No. I had, that was not even on my radar when I first started. My radar was, I need to get this weight off, need to lose weight, I need to get better, and then I just started seeing the change in how I felt and how I looked at myself, [00:27:00] and my self-confidence just because I loved myself. I can look in the mirror and say, "I love myself now."

[00:27:06] Cindy Weathers: I can say, "I'm worth it," and I believe it. It's not just me giving myself words of, "Okay, well you need to say that." And I want that for other women, too. I want them to have that transformation and to see how worthy they are and that they matter, and taking care of them and loving themselves and trusting themselves is going to change their lives.

[00:27:25] Carrie Lupoli: And for someone that knows exactly how to get there, exactly where to dig to find where they are buried, I just think it is, you're so close to it yourself. Like for me, my story was a little more than 12 years ago where I really got to figuring this out, and I love that, and I've been living this lifestyle for so long, it just becomes who I am.

[00:27:48] Carrie Lupoli: But there's a part of me sometimes that has to check myself to remember what it was like that long ago. And because it was so, it wasn't that long ago for you at all- [00:28:00] No ... you have such an insight of support and love and understanding for women that are where you were not so long ago. So I, I, I love that.

[00:28:11] Carrie Lupoli: So my next question for you is I always talk about straightening your crown, and how that is a daily act. It's a daily act. We recognize the corset, center ourselves, and to really remembering who we are, what we want, and why we want it, and then actively straightening the crown. What are some of your crown straightening activities that you make sure you do to continue to evolve and grow in becoming the healthiest version of yourself?

[00:28:37] Cindy Weathers: One of mine is making sure I'm keeping my word to myself daily. It can be something minor, but it's important for me to, for me to hold myself accountable and to accept the responsibility that I'm as important as keeping the word to anyone else, I keep the word to myself, too. And then remembering my worth, asking myself what I need, uh, daily, because sometimes [00:29:00] I can forget to take care of my own needs, and asking myself, what do I need in this moment?

[00:29:05] Cindy Weathers: And checking that, and th- reminding myself that I matter, and that to not lose me in my day-to-day busies. And

[00:29:14] Carrie Lupoli: so. So- And when life's life, I really make sure that that crown stays on. Exactly. And, and this is what I think is so important for women to hear By you straightening your crown, by doing all of those things, does that allow you to show up for others in a better way or in a worse way?

[00:29:32] Carrie Lupoli: Because the, the mindset, the racket is that if I actually take time for myself, if I actually show up for myself in this way, I'm not gonna be able to show up for others. I, I... It's an act of love to put everybody else in front of me. And you just said that you do things every single day to straighten your own crown, and so reconcile that.

[00:29:52] Carrie Lupoli: Are you actually showing up better for other people or worse now that you're taking care of yourself?

[00:29:58] Cindy Weathers: Because I'm taking care of [00:30:00] myself better and putting my needs where I need to have them at the beginning of the day, during morning time, and just with getting started in my day, I can care for others better.

[00:30:09] Cindy Weathers: I have enough energy and love to be able to care for them. And the fact that I see myself in a much different light now than I did nearly two years ago really helps me to be more encouraging and uplifting to other people to help them.

[00:30:23] Carrie Lupoli: It, it's exactly. It's, it's the results of operating from the corset versus operating from the crown are just night and day.

[00:30:32] Carrie Lupoli: And I always say we were not put on this earth to weigh a certain amount. We were put on this earth to be a certain amount to others. But if we are not the healthiest version of ourselves, physically and mentally, then we will not be able to actually meet our true purpose for as long as possible of serving others.

[00:30:50] Carrie Lupoli: And so you are now-- It's so funny, because the woman that believed she was too busy to work out is now working out. You work, you have a family, [00:31:00] and you're coaching. You're arguably doing more than what you were doing two years ago. But did you suddenly find more time? No. Or are you more aligned? What's the story?

[00:31:12] Carrie Lupoli: How are you doing it all?

[00:31:14] Cindy Weathers: I'm more aligned. Much more aligned, and I'm truly content and full of joy, and so filled in my life now much more.

[00:31:23] Carrie Lupoli: Isn't that amazing how much more you can do when those are the adjectives that you use to describe yourself? It's just so inspiring. You really truly are a story of freedom.

[00:31:35] Carrie Lupoli: What do you think freedom means to you now?

[00:31:39] Cindy Weathers: The shortest version, the most straightforward be, would be that I'm the freedom to be me, and I can be unapologetically me.

[00:31:48] Carrie Lupoli: I love that. I love that we have unapologetically me on our shirts and some of our joggers because I feel like we all need that good reminder that we can show up as ourselves and, uh, take off the corset.

[00:31:57] Carrie Lupoli: You really are just [00:32:00] such a success story. And, and this is why I wanted to have you on, because this isn't a before and after picture. This is a understanding of who the woman was when she entered into this space of making a decision to do something different, who she is today, and if we have you on in a year from now, you're gonna be a different person in a year.

[00:32:17] Carrie Lupoli: It's no before or after. It's just simply the journey you are on to become the healthiest version of you. And this is where you are today. I cannot wait to see where you are in a year from now as you continue to evolve. What do you think, like when you first started working with us, I always ask like, "W- what do you, where do you wanna be in a year?"

[00:32:33] Carrie Lupoli: And I don't think you could've even imagined that you would be where you are now. But if I ask you- No ... where do you wanna be in a year? Like, what is your next step for yourself to continue to uplevel? You know, the, the ceiling is now a floor, right? Every time we hit a ceiling, it becomes a new floor. So if you look ahead in a year from now, where do you want to be?

[00:32:51] Cindy Weathers: I want to be even more content and have even deeper health now. I'm not sure exactly what that would look like, and I don't [00:33:00] know that I can say just yet, because if I had been asked a year ago or even or two years ago, I would not have had any of this. I would've been like, "Oh, I'll feel better. I'll lose a little weight."

[00:33:10] Cindy Weathers: But I want to just continue to grow and get to know me better and live my purpose more. And help other women to be able to find themselves like have found me. And there's

[00:33:21] Carrie Lupoli: a quote I actually find that we limit ourselves when we actually think about, like, where I could be in a year from now, because I don't think our plan is even close to as magnificent as God's plan is for us.

[00:33:34] Carrie Lupoli: But every time he opened a door for you over the last two years, you walked through it, and you walked through it humbly with that mindset of growth. And so, I mean, it's gonna be fun- Oh, thank you ... to watch you over the next year.

[00:33:47] Cindy Weathers: Thank you. There's one quote that has, I wanna share. When, at the beginning, you had talked about the expected things, and it's a quote, is, "The expected is just the beginning, and the unexpected is what changes our lives."[00:34:00]

[00:34:00] Cindy Weathers: Oh. And that quote- Yes ... to me is just, it continues to be just very impactful. Yep. And- 'Cause it's like what you said, the limiting, and then when we don't limit ourselves, we can allow the unexpected.

[00:34:13] Carrie Lupoli: And you've lived a really challenging life in so many ways, and so you can use that trauma and that challenge to be able to even be more grateful for the life and the progress that you've made right now.

[00:34:25] Carrie Lupoli: So congratulations, Cindy. Thank you. You are truly a story of freedom. Thank you. For those of you that want to get to know Cindy a little bit more, understand her story, we have her information here in the show notes. You can go to disruptivenutrition.com, because as one of our coaches with my private practice, you can learn a little bit more about Cindy.

[00:34:46] Carrie Lupoli: But you can reach out to her, tell her how proud you are of her. But really, this isn't about her. This is about you, really seeing you inside of this story, knowing that if it was [00:35:00] possible for Cindy, it was, it's possible for you to take off the corset, said to yourself, and straighten your crown. Cindy, you're amazing.

[00:35:09] Carrie Lupoli: Thank you so much.

[00:35:10] Cindy Weathers: Thank you, Carrie. Thank you for helping me find me, too.
